JULY 08, 2003 Final Cut Pro Quick Tip #24 I had to laugh out loud the other day when someone posted on one of the various message boards that he/she didn’t know what the LiveType disc was for that came with his Final Cut Pro 4 package. It really isn’t a laughing matter, as LiveType is a separate application from Final Cut Pro 4 and does not interact directly with the editing software. However, by using the following steps, getting Final Cut Pro 4 and LiveType to work together is a snap. Please please please remember that LiveType is a separate application from Final Cut Pro 4. At first this seems like a real bummer that it is not actually part of our favorite editing application, but we can learn to live with it. As I have mentioned previously, while LiveType is cook, most of us will continue to rely on Calligraphy for most of our text needs.[an error occurred while processing this directive]So how do we begin? I recommend that you go ahead and edit your entire program or segment first - graphics, special effects, and titles come in after the rough cut anyway. Next find the area on the Timeline where you want to have a LiveType title appear. In this example, I’ll be adding a lower third to an interview segment. Mark this area.  Next export the marked segment by going to File>Export for LiveType. Unless audio is really needed, you can turn this off completely and do a Video Only movie.
